Web design is usually the first stage of a project. At this point, the project is not a web site at all, but just pictures on a piece of paper. The first goal is to create a design with visual appeal. A recent study revealed that it takes as little as 50 milliseconds for someone to decide whether they like a site. So if your site doesn't look good, the chances are it is not reaching its sales potential. A web site that is truly successful needs to meet all the following:

  • Clearly shows what your company has to offer and is personal
  • Shows the more important content prominently
  • Usability is easy and intuitive
  • Clearly visible contact information
  • Site should be clear and consice and pertinent
  • Content should be to the point and current
  • Search Engines can understand the content

All these points may seem obvious but are fundamental in making any site sucessful. The site should portray an image to relates to the content through its design but not be over cluttered with unneccessary graphics and poorly written code which makes sites appear slow and cumbersome.
